Hair Care Tips

Sapphire Hair Collection's hair is top quality and able to last 1 to 3 years with proper care. Follow the care tips below to help your hair to last longer.

PRIOR TO INSTALL

Virgin hair extensions should be co-washed (washed with moisturizing conditioner) prior to install. The hair should be kept intact and washed with cold water in order to transform the hair from its raw state.

INSTALL

During install advise stylist to stay away from soft areas towards your hairline where the hair is prone to go thin. Hair extensions are wonderful; however it's equally important to install them with care and respect for your natural hair. Keep edges moisturize to reduce stress to your natural hair. Always remember that an install should never be painful and do not be afraid to inform the stylist that your hair is being pulled too tightly.

WASHING

Gently wash hair vertically in one direction only. Be sure to use a rather gentle and preferably organic shampoo and conditioner. Don't shortchange yourself on the quality as this will ruin your hair extensions that you've already invested good money in. By using good quality products, this will extend the life of your hair extensions and keep them looking alive. It is best to let the hair air dry but should you choose to use a hair dryer, we would highly recommend an ionic dryer as they won't damage the hair. It is equally important to invest in good quality ceramic straightening irons and wands that will not damage your high end extensions. Especially for curly hair, use a good leave-in conditioner to restore and keep your curls soft. However, this should also be done in moderation as any excess can cause build up and tangling. Do always avoid hair products that contain alcohol as alcohol is known to dry the hair out.

SWIMMING

Wash the hair immediately after swimming! When dirt and sweat accumulates, the hair will tangle and become unmanageable. Be sure to always wear a swim cap made of latex. Carefully comb out any tangles that may be present starting from the bottom and working your way up.
